Empowering the Next Generation: Supporting Indigenous Futures Through Design
Perfect Practice is honoured to partner with Derbarl Yerrigan Health Services to create a new facility in Midland – a landmark achievement for our Perth team and a testament to our ongoing commitment to community-led healthcare design and construction.

This project involves developing a new facility in Midland, Western Australia, purpose-built to expand the service capacity of Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service – the state’s largest Aboriginal community-controlled health organisation – delivering culturally safe primary health, mental health, and dental care to Aboriginal families across the Perth metropolitan region. Scheduled to open in late 2025, the new clinic is designed to enhance healthcare access and outcomes for the community it serves.

In further support of local communities, we’re proud to partner with Curtin University to introduce a new Indigenous Scholarship program. This four-year initiative supports an Indigenous student pursuing tertiary studies in either the design or medical fields, contributing to the development of future leaders in spaces that shape community wellbeing. We’re delighted to welcome our inaugural recipient, Grace, who has begun a Bachelor of Applied Science (Architectural Science) at Curtin University.

“Even before I’ve had the chance to fully benefit from the scholarship, Perfect Practice’s support has already made a meaningful difference to me. Knowing that I will be receiving this scholarship gives me great encouragement and motivation as I continue my studies and pursue my goals.” – Grace

Grace brings a thoughtful, values-driven approach to her work, showcasing a keen interest in sustainable, inclusive, and community-based design. Her passion is shaped by global experiences, a strong connection to community, and the values instilled in her from a young age.

“This gives me the confidence to keep pushing forward and will allow me to focus more on my studies and become further involved in activities I’m passionate about, including volunteering and hands-on projects.”

In addition to financial support, Grace will undertake a work experience placement with the Perfect Practice Perth team, gaining first-hand exposure to our pipeline of healthcare projects and deepening her understanding of design’s role in improving health outcomes.

We’re proud to support Grace on this journey and look forward to the lasting impact this initiative will have – not only for her, but for the communities she will go on to support.
