Based in Castle Hill, Sydney, Hills Animal Hospital offers personalised, general veterinary care for family pets. As a new start-up practice, Hills Animal Hospital engaged Perfect Practice to design and build a cost-effective 112m² veterinary clinic. Practice owner, Dr Sonya Bains, required each space to be fully utilised to ensure the best return on investment. As a passionate animal-lover, she also needed to ensure the veterinary fit-out would provide the best client/animal experience possible.
Dr Bains had a very clear vision for the practice workflow from the outset. It was important to maximise functionality and productivity within the current footprint of the tenancy, while also incorporating multiple access to different spaces. A challenging requirement, the Perfect Practice team worked closely with Dr Bains, thinking outside the square, to deliver the accessibility that was required in the veterinary fit-out to ensure Hills Animal Hospital could operate at full capacity and efficiency.
Multiple access is key
Key to the successful layout of Hills Animal Hospital was a central treatment room with multiple entries & access points. Perfect Practice also created dual access from the central treatment room to the consult rooms, enabling staff and clients to enter separately.
Good design is the foundation for success
Responding to the practice’s minimalistic, yet fun branding, the reception area (including a separate waiting area and display for cats and dogs) is defined by a sense of modern simplicity, calm and warmth, without the hefty price tag. While the back of house areas, including the consult room, are completed with intricate detail, centred around supporting the clinic’s high-tech equipment, optimising their staff workflow and access, and elevating the client (and pet) journey at Hills Animal Hospital.
